With the Paramount, Moore, and Neptune Theatres under its dominion, Seattle Theatre Group plays a vital role in keeping Seattle entertained. Expanding on the previously announced Broadway at the Paramount season, STG has revealed the comedy, concerts, dance, and other interesting offerings of its 2014–15 performance season lineup. The most intriguing performances on the schedule are atypical hybrid works. Three Acts, Two Dancers, One Radio Host, synthesizes dancing by Monica Bill Barnes and Anna Bass with radio reads from Ira Glass. In Wordless!, Maus creator Art Spiegelman's discusses comics and concepts of art while jazz composer Phillip Johnston provides live instrumental backing. On "The Edible Inevitable Tour," Food Network's Alton Brown mixes food experimentation, comedy, and his own songs.
The 2014–15 STG season features plenty of non-genre bending options as well. The diverse slate of comedy includes improv from Whose Line Anyway?, standups ranging from goofy (Brian Regan) to irate (Lewis Black), magical humor via Penn and Teller, and doses of camp from John Waters and Dame Edna. MacArthur genus Kyle Abraham and Spectrum Dance Theater's reimagining of Carmina Burana highlight the dance offerings. The concerts on the calendar include three Seattle Rock Orchestra show (Neil Diamond, Beck, and the Police), 2Cellos' classically trained rock cello shredding, and the Jherek Bischoff-curated avant-garde Bang on a Can Marathon.
